Sheriff’s Office reports catalytic converter thefts

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office has responded to several catalytic converter thefts throughout the county recently.
Sheriff John Shearon said the thefts are spread out and especially targeting church vans.
Shearon urged drivers to avoid leaving their cars on empty lots and for churches to have someone take the van home.
Parking in well-lit areas and turning on any car alarms or security cameras one might have was also recommended.
Shearon asked that community members be on their guard and report any suspicious activity, especially around churches.
Activity can be reported to police by calling 205-755-1120 or 205-755-2511.
