Peach Jam is back

Peach Jam is making its return to Chilton County this month.
After being cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce is bringing back the event during the week of the Peach Festival.
It will take place on June 26 from 3-10 p.m. at the city park football field and the recreational baseball fields in Clanton.
There will be plenty to do at Peach Jam this year. There will be food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, information vendors, a hot air balloon, an area with inflatables for kids and live entertainment, which will include country music artist David Nail.
“We’re just excited to be able to offer this for the community for everybody to come together,” Rachel Martin of the Chamber of Commerce said. “We’re very thankful to our sponsors, we have had a great response this year, everybody just willing to help and to get out there.”
The sponsors for this year’s Peach Jam played a big role in getting it put together so quickly. The Chamber of Commerce got a very late start in planning the event, as they were not sure that it was going to happen because of COVID.
“When some of the [COVID] mandates were kind of loosened, we were able to go ahead and start planning,” Martin said. “Of course, we followed suit with the Peach Festival, with the Lions Club, so once they decided that they were going to have the Peach Festival, have the pageants and things like that, then we decided we were going to have the Peach Jam.”
Despite a short amount of time to plan, the Chamber of Commerce has been able to get everything in place for a great event, and they’re expecting a huge turnout this year.
“We normally have eight to 10,000 people come through, and we are expecting … three to five thousand more,” Martin said. “Everybody is ready to get out and get back together and to do something. So, this is their opportunity to do it.
The live music is expected to start around 4 p.m., and Nail will take the stage around 7:30 p.m., although no official times have been listed by the Chamber of Commerce.
