Taste of Chilton set for Oct. 18

By JOYANNA LOVE/ Managing Editor

Taste of Chilton is returning to Clanton on Oct. 18.

This will be the third year for the event after being canceled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the event will be 5:30 -7:30 p.m. at Senior Connection.

Attendees will have the opportunity to sample food from a number of local restaurants and food-focused businesses.

Confirmed food vendors so far include County Lane Too, Flying Peach BBQ, Sandy’s Friends, Main Street Café, Pies by Mike, Maddogs, GeMa’s Cupcakes and King’s Table. More are expected as the event gets closer.

During the event, attendees vote for their favorites for best sweet, best savory and best overall.

Rotary president Brandy Clackley said she enjoys the excitement of the event.

“Everybody comes out and gets together and enjoys the restaurants,” Clackley said. “It is just a good, energetic time.”

Senior Connection director Vanessa McKinney said she enjoys “serving the community and giving them the opportunity to see everything come together.”

Al Headley will emcee the evening.

A limited number of tickets are available, so those interested in attending are encouraged to get one as soon as possible.

Tickets are $25. Senior Connection members can purchase tickets for $10.

Tickets can be purchased at Senior Connection, 304 Park Plaza in Clanton, Monday – Thursday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Organizers thanked all of the event sponsors, vendors and attendees for supporting the event.

Proceeds from the fundraiser are split equally between the Rotary Club of Chilton County and Senior Connection.

McKinney said Senior Connection uses the funds toward group activities and donations to local nonprofits.

The Rotary Club used its portion toward providing dictionaries to third grade students, donations to the Department of Human Resources and local nonprofits and sponsoring students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening.
